Calvary

The hill named Calvary is located south-west of the castle. An ancient Gothic Feast of the Cross Chapel used to stand on the top.A cemetery surrounded the chapel, where according to local legend Svanda the Bagpiper is supposed to rest. The chapel was abandoned in 1781 during the reign of  Joseph II and was demolished some years later. Parts of its interior have found refuge in nearby chapels and churches.

Former Siebert Institute with St. Martin Chapel

Viktor Siebert made his last will in a military camp near Rab on 20 June 1685, donating 10,000 guldens to a shelter for impoverished Strakonice burghers. His father, Vincenc Karel Siebert, mayor of the town, purchased a cottage by Řepicka Gate, and had a hospital built on the spot. A home for the elderly was officially opened in the hospital in 1948, and later expanded with another building (1956). The home was recently reconstructed and modernized. The Chapel of St. Martin was built in 1713 as part of the Siebert Hospital.
