Small Chapel - bell Tower in Modlešovice

The rectangular structure from the early 19th century is located on the village square among the trees. There is an onion-shaped bell tower above the shingled roof. The front is decorated with a niche with statue. The bell tower is accessible via a small side door.A cast-iron cross is mounted on a stone base in front of it.

Small Chapel in Hajská

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary of Podsrp was built in 1932 on the spot of an older structure from the first half of the 19th century. The village chapel has a rectangular shape with a three-side finish. The gable includes bell. The entrance and the two side windows are vaulted. The gabled roof is covered with clay tiles.

Chapel of St. Norbert

The chapel is located in the fields near Střela, towards Katovice. It was built by Mr Doubek, which is why it is called Doubek's or Norbert's Chapel. The simple structure lacks decorations and lies derelict.

Chapel of St. John the Baptist in Střela

We don't know when the original St. John the Baptist's Chapel was built here. The Chapel was designed for various religious services and as a bell tower, where the Kotrbas - father and son - rang the bell for many years. According to contemporary documents the purpose was not to celebrate masses. The shape and decoration were very similar to the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Virt. The chapel was destroyed in 1950 and nobody was interested in building a new one until 1965, when Mr Petráň outsmarted the authorities.

Chapel of John of Nepomuk in Dražejov

Picturesque John of Nepomuk Chapel was built on the village square in Dražejov in 1812. The chapel was transferred under local sponsorship in 1900 when the council undertook to be the chapel's patron forever. Marie Křivancova was linked to the maintenance of light in the chapel. The chapel served as the village's bell tower. The bell ringer received payment from the council for his services. A bell used to hang in the chapel, with an image of John of Nepomuk, decorative ornaments and the year 1791.

Chapel at Virt

Virt village is home to a chapel similar to the one in Střela. It is located under tall trees, not far from the present playground, consecrated in the name of Czech patron saint St. Wenceslas. The simple rectangular structure with a bell in its gable bears the inscription 1909. A cast-iron cross was mounted on a stone base in front of the chapel that served mostly as the local bell tower. A large painting of St. Wenceslas hangs in the front.

Chapel near Blatsky Pond

The chapel is located at Blatsky Pond, at the edge of a gardening allotment. The original iron cross disappeared. Only some older residents remember the painting on the wood.

Chapel of St. Peter at Podskalí

The farmstead of the Kučera family in Virt had a niche in the wall with the statue of St. Peter. When they moved out of Virt, they loaded the statue together with the furniture. As they were descending onto the local road, the wagon turned over, and the furniture and the statue were taken by the river stream. They saved the furniture, but the statue was carried all the way to the Podskalí river bank. When the water receded, fishermen found it. According to ancient law what the water carries away shall become the property of the finder.

Chapel of St. Wenceslas

The square of the former Přední Ptákovice village takes great pride in its St. Wenceslas Chapel. The spot where the chapel stand is not often visited, so it's not very famous. This is a typical structure that complements the appearance of almost every Czech village square.

Small Chapel of John of Nepomuk

Opposite the side road to Modlešovice there is a simple niched building with Baroque gable and roof from the 18th century.

A small grilled niche is in the rear, where statuette of St. John was once kept. According to the contemporary texts the Chapel bore an inscription "May John of Nepomuk intercede for us and our homeland". The Archdeacon of Pilsen, Antonín Havelka, led a procession from Podsrp to Modlešovice on 16 May 1939, and the first station was here, at the St. John Chapel near the woods.

Chapel of the Virgin Mary

The chapel is located to the west of Podsrp. The structure stands hidden above a water spring that used to be known as miraculous. The neighbouring lands were called "at the good water", attesting to the healing effects of the local water. It is a simple niched chapel covered by a pantiled roof and marked crown cornice with a triangle gable from the 18th century. The road from Strakonice to Podsrp was near the chapel and used by many processions.

Adalbert of Prague Chapel

The Chapel of Adalbert of Prague, also known as the Chapel of Maltese Priests, is located south of the Church of St. Wenceslas, on the right-hand side of the cemetery gate. It was built in the 18th century. The three-dimensional volute gable with an alcove and a shell in the middle and richly decorated cornices indicate that the the building was constructed at the height of the Baroque period. The front of the Chapel is decorated with a painted altar depicting the Resurrection of the Lord, above which there is tin-plate image of Adalbert. A cast-iron cross on a stone base is on the side.

Tomb of Hereditary Postmasters

Not far from the Church of St. Wenceslas in the Strakonice cemetery stands the early baroque Holy Trinity Chapel, also known as the Tomb of Hereditary Postmasters.  It was established in 1680. An inscription chiselled into the marble plate covering the crypt provides information about the foundation. The chapel served as a place of worship and was consecrated by the then Archbishop of Prague. In the era of Josephinism it was decreed that the place be abandoned. Later it was repaired by the postmaster Jan Michael Čížek and returned to its original purpose.

Chapel of the Brušáks

St. John's Chapel is located on the crossroad of Radomyšlská and Šmidingerova streets. The chapel was built in the 18th century and was consecrated in the name of the freshly canonized John of Nepomuk. One of the two proven miracles that were used to support the process of canonization took pace in Strakonice. This was the case of little Rosalie Hodankova, a girl who was saved from drowning when she fell into the weir in 1718 and got under the ice. After a long search she was rescued, alive and kicking, in the presence of a number of witnesses.

"Hus" Chapel

On the slope beyond the bridge to the left of the road leading to Písek and Prague stands the pillared niched chapel of John of Nepomuk. Even though the chapel officially belongs to the cadastral area of Řepice, it is practically part of Strakonice. This tiny structure is interesting chiefly for its history rather than its architecture. Like most Baroque chapels it has been consecrated in the name of Czech patron saint John of Nepomuk, whose statuette can be found in the niche. Instead of the usual cross there is a hammered chalice on a stone base.
